This workshop is designed to introduce participants to the basics of writing higher order behavioural objectives and MCQs following the NBME guidelines.

Objectives:

At the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Critique and construct learning objectives using the ABCD model, at different levels of learning.
  • Propose appropriate learning and assessment strategies for a given learning objective.
  • Identify if the objectives, learning and assessment strategies are SMART within a given context.
  • Critique a series of MCQs according to the NBME guidelines, identifying common flaws.
  • Construct, present and receive feedback on 2 MCQs using NBME guidelines at 2 out of 3 levels of learning (knowledge; comprehension and application; problem solving) using a clinical vignette.
