Facilitator: Dr Cristelle Chow, Dr Veena Rajkumar, Dr Sashikumar Ganapathy & Dr Foo Yang Yann

As an EDUCATOR, have you ever wondered why students who attended lectures tended to be less able to apply their knowledge in the ward when compared to their peers who engaged in active learning? If your curiosity about such EDUCATIONAL phenomena is prompting you to engage in EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH, then this workshop is for you.

It will equip you with skills on how to locate quality EDUCATIONAL LITERATURE and critique its content. By so doing you are critically appraising EDUCATIONAL LITERATURE which establishes your credibility as an EDUCATIONAL RESEARCHER

Please note that this workshop will NOT look at literature related to quality improvement projects, clinical or health services & systems research. Those domains fall under the purview of Academic Medicine Research Institute (AMRI)

This workshop is part of the Level 2 Advanced Educators Workshops, designed to help interprofessional educators develop advanced competencies in the IMPACT! Domain.

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Locate educational literature using databases and search engines
  • Distinguish between good and less reputable educational literature
  • Critique educational literature using a framework

Pre-workshop, you must independently complete an assignment [please use this assignment template] comprising the following parts:

  2. a review of the educational literature associated with said topic [between 200 and 300 words]
  3. a list of difficulties you encountered as you were completing the preceding 2 activities
