Fellows Programme

The AM•EI Fellows Programme is an educational fellowship initiative that develops an interprofessional community of passionate educators with advanced teaching skills to better nurture the next generation. Held over a 12-month period, the train-the-trainer programme taps on the principle of Generativity, namely, sharing knowledge to nurture the next generation and stretch the academic impact.

Taught in groups of interprofessional teams by AM•EI educators as well as Faculty from Duke University, the participants will be developed as competent and well trained health professions educators who can develop their own area of interest in education, and deliver courses on the basic principles and train others to be future faculty in the AM•EI.

The programme uses the Academy of Medical Education Health Professions Competencies (AoME, 2012. www.aome.org) as a guide to frame the expectations.

Fellows Showcase

On 20 May, the 3rd cohort of the AM•EI Fellows Programme held a project showcase of their year-long scholarly efforts. To date, the fellowship programme has brought together 93 interprofessional healthcare educators and created a platform for them to engage in cross-sharing of educational experience and idea generation opportunities. A few Fellows have tapped on this platform and formed inter-cohort project teams to explore ways to enhance healthcare education. 

Four years since its launch, the programme has seen its Fellows make an impact by drawing knowledge from diverse backgrounds to create a more integrated approach to education. Several Fellows have started to teach and share their knowledge to build up the capacity of other educators. This truly demonstrates the principles of Generativity, which essentially is the contribution back to our education community through the sharing of knowledge. Others have taken on education-related research, exploring how they may improve teaching outcomes.
