The Education Unit

The Education Unit in ORH ACP aims to centralise all educational activities held at NDCS. The unit will coordinate continuing professional education for all dental specialists and clinicians, clinical attachments and observerships, support the running of Residency Programs, as well as manage structured training programs for Auxiliary Health Professionals.

It will serve as a single point of contact for all collaborating partners in education (i.e., NUS, NYP, ITE, etc.) and facilitate prompt & efficient communication amongst the various stakeholders in Education.

Faculty Development

The Education Unit will work with the Academic Medicine Education Institute (AM-EI) to coordinate workshops and seminars to provide training in pedagogy skills for faculty members. The unit also administers the feedback framework for the ORH ACP so as to provide timely feedback to the faculty regarding their teaching skills.

Continuing Professional Education (CPE)

The Education Unit partners with the various clinical departments to offer around 200 hours of CPE events for general dental practitioners and specialists annually.  One of the major CPE events is the Annual Scientific Meeting, a platform where faculty members are able to share clinical expertise and clinical innovations with the dental fraternity and other collaborators.

Clinical Attachments and Observerships

The Education unit manages requests for attachments and observerships from students and dental undergraduates. The unit is also responsible for coordinating the activities of these students and to create an engaging learning environment for them.

Master in Dental Surgery (MDS) Residency Training Program

The MDS program is a collaboration between NUS Faculty of Dentistry, Division of Graduate Dental Studies and National Dental Centre Singapore. The Education Unit acts as a contact point to facilitate prompt and efficient communication between the 2 institutions. Currently, the residency training program is offered for the following specialties:

  • Endodontics
  • Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Orthodontics
  • Paediatric Dentistry (New program starting in  AY2015)
  • Periodontology

Auxiliary Health

ORH ACP believes that all members of the healthcare team contribute their expertise and are important in providing high quality care to patients.
