Dear Colleagues

We are pleased to annouce the appointment of Dr Ong Kong Wee as Head, SingHealth Duke-NUS Breast Surgery Centre with effect from 1 July 2014.

In his new role, Dr Ong will lead in the formation and delivery of a multi-disciplinary Centre through integration of breast surgery units in NCCS, SGH and KKH. The new Centre will leverage on expertise from SingHealth and Duke-NUS Oncology and Surgery Academic Clinical Programs (ACPs). This is a significant development of the sub-specialisation of breast surgery in Singapore and brings together the collective strengths of specialists in all these disciplines. The aim is to provide a borderless and disease-focused practice to deliver holistic patient-centric care.

This is the second SingHealth Duke-NUS Centre to be formed after the SingHealth Duke-NUS Head & Neck Surgery Centre was launched on 1 March 2014. Such integrated multi-disciplinary practice units tap on the unique strengths and skill sets of different specialties and domains in a one-stop service. It allows the development of sub-specialties in greater depth, improves collaboration, sharing of best practices and the establishment of consistent protocols for better training and research - all for the benefit of our patients.
