Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is with much excitement that the SingHealth Duke-NUS Education Conference 2019 returns on 27th and 28th September at Academia. The biennial Education Conference is a landmark healthcare education event that aims to be the springboard to foster collaborations in education and boost scholarly efforts to improve patient care. Building on the success of the 2017 Education Conference that attracted more than 1,000 thought leaders, educators and learners, the 2019 Conference is an excellent platform for networking with like-minded healthcare professionals and exchange best practices and strategies to advance healthcare education.

With the theme “Building Resilience and Well-being in Healthcare Education through Interprofessional Collaborations”, the 2019 Conference emphasises the importance for healthcare professionals to develop resilience and keep a positive mind frame for sustainable healthcare, which fundamentally begins with education. As healthcare educators, we are responsible for creating positive learning environments for our learners and ensuring their well-being and readiness for future challenges in their professional practice. The Conference is therefore an opportune time for us to openly discuss this topic, and explore the use of effective strategies and tools to foster resilience, prevent burnout, develop empathy, and strengthen teamwork among healthcare professionals through interprofessional collaborations.

Featuring a strong line-up of international and local speakers, the two-day programme will span all major aspects of healthcare education with a wide range of topics such as enhancing interprofessional practice and collaborations, developing wellness and resilience, the latest professional assessments, pedagogical methodologies, entrustable professional activities, among many others. The Conference promises to challenge your thinking and inspire your passion for teaching, so as to raise our education standards to provide better care for our patients. Whether you are an educator or a learner, there is definitely something for you.

We will like to invite all educators and learners to contribute and help shape the programme by submitting your proposals for the Conference. You may also play a part in the Conference by submitting your educational research abstracts or stories. In the spirit of sharing, we hope to encourage stimulating discussions and the cross fertilisation of ideas in healthcare education to transform the way we teach and learn.

On behalf of the Organising Committee, we look forward to seeing you in Singapore at this exciting conference in September 2019!
